BRUCERT TO HOST CYBER SECURITY CONFERENCE IN BRUNEI

Local Information and Cyber Security company ITPSS Sdn Bhd, in its role as Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCERT) will play host to the forthcoming Organization of Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) Annual Conference & 6th Annual General Meeting in Brunei Darussalam from 20-22 October 2014.

The 3-day event is co-organised by the Permanent Secretariat of the OIC-CERT, CyberSecurity Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia(MOSTI). It consists of a Technical Workshop, Annual General Meeting for OIC-CERT members, and a conference & exhibition on the final day. The event kicks off with a technical workshop on Internet Investigation conducted by Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) and a desktop exercise on Securing Organisations Against Cyber Attacks facilitated by CyberSecurity Malaysia, ID-SIRTII (Indonesia) and PISA-CERT (Pakistan).

With the theme “Emerging Risks vs Opportunities”, the conference features invited international experts leading discussions on the latest technologies and trends affecting cyber security such as Cloud Computing and Big Data. International speakers include Dr Madan M Oberoi, Director Cyber Innovation & Outreach at INTERPOL; Ms Yurie Ito, Chair of Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team; Mr Gunther Mull, CEO of Dermalog Identification Systems Germany, Mr Shakeel Tufail, CEO of SecureNinja USA. The last day of the event will also include an exhibition by multinational IT firms such as Dermalog, TrendMicro, Cisco, Dell and FireEye.

As part of a continuous initiative by the OIC-CERT, this annual event aims to foster global cyber security through international cooperation among members in mitigating the ever-increasing cyber threats. The conference itself provides unique sessions focusing on cyber security current and proposed policies, strategies and initiatives, in the form of panel discussions, interactive dialogue.

It is expected to draw about 200 participants from 16 OIC-CERT member countries comprising industry leaders, academicians, speakers and delegates from various OIC countries including Oman, Egypt, Tunisia, Indonesia, Sudan, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Morocco and the UAE. Local participants from both the government and private sectors would also be attending.
