Some 17 senior citizens of the Senior Citizens Activity Centre (PKWE), Temburong District completed the Digital Skills Training programme yesterday. The three-day programme was organised by the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI).

The programme, aimed to promote e-commerce adoption and digital literacy among the elder generation, was held at Multipurpose Hall of the Utama Bumiputera Complex in Bangar on February 10-12.

It was conducted with the cooperation from the government and the private sector with presentations and practical demonstrations by trainers and facilitators from the Department of Curriculum Development, Ministry of Education; IT Protective Security Services Sdn Bhd (ITPSS), as well as representatives from local e-commerce companies such as, and

The programme covered various topics including basic ICT skills, online safety and security, introduction to e-commerce and its opportunities, useful mobile applications, online shopping as well as cybersecurity tips.

The participants joined in the Kahoot quizzes to win gift tokens to test their understanding about ICT. The Digital Skills Training programme for senior citizens was first introduced in October 2019 at the Senior Citizen Activity Center, Brunei-Muara District.

More than 100 senior citizens have participated in the programme.

With encouraging reviews from the participants regarding the programme, AITI will continually conduct awareness activities for the senior citizens on the importance of being ICT literate and to adopt e-Commerce in making their daily lives easier, better and more convenient.
