Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology (CCCT) today embarked on an educational visit to local information technology security company ITPSS Sdn Bhd. The group of students undertaking BTEC Level 5 HND in Computing were accompanied by their lecturer, Dennis Tanjusay.
The students were briefed on the services offered by ITPSS including penetration testing, digital forensics, security audit, in addition to public awareness initiatives such as roadshows and school talks. They also learned about the types of qualifications that would lead to a career in IT security, and what they could expect from working at ITPSS.
The group then learned about ITPSS’s role as Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCERT), the nation’s single point of contact for IT security related incidents, providing incident response and security analysis to the government and security awareness to the public.
The visit concluded with a presentation on online safety covering common threats such as malware, phishing, social engineering and ransomware. Lastly, the students were encouraged to learn more by attending a series of public presentations organized by ITPSS on 4 August 2018. Presented by local security experts and tech professionals, the presentations cover a range of topics including phishing, digital forensics, app development and virtual reality.
